Mode of education

The mode of education in Thailand is very special. It has a very different education system from other Southeast Asia country. Children from age 3 will enter pre-school education for 2 years, which is the kindergarten to prepare them before entering to primary education. They will then pursue their primary educations for 6 years to get basic knowledge of the subjects. After completing the 6 years of primary education, they will continue to study for another 6 years in the secondary school. In the first 3 years of secondary education, it is known as the lower secondary education. They will learn subjects like English, mathematics, Buddhism, art, health education, science, social studies and physical education. In the next 3 years, it is known as the upper secondary years. Students will choose one of 3 respective studying fields such as, science-maths, art-maths and art- language. Each child will have to complete this 12 years compulsory education before they can choose to start working or continue studying. The higher education is separated into lower than bachelor’s degree and bachelor’s degree and the graduate level.
